A Very Successful Entrepreneur: Doe Deere

Doe Deere was involved in a digital media project called “The Story Exchange”. “The Story Exchange” consists of talking and interviewing with women around the world that are entrepreneurs. Doe was one out of a thousand of people that was chosen to be interviewed Doe is in the makeup and beauty business. She owns Lime Crime, and she is heavily involved in the health and beauty industry. She is located in Los Angeles, California. She started her business in 2004 when she registered an account on Ebay. This was a new account for her and it took a lot of work. She created everything herself, and her plan was to have a unique look of makeup that was very colorful. Doe was always into fashion.In the past she used to sew, and in her sewing days she would always try to sew unusual colors. Today Doe’s makeup line is full of unusual colors.Doe launched Lime Crime on observer in 2008.
While being interviewed, she gave many well thought answers. When she was asked of what she thought of success , she said success was having a vision that connects with the audience. She wanted her audience to be proud to wear Lime Crime. She wanted to evolve herself and to reinvent herself. To her, success means remaining true to oneself. Success is making other people happy.
Doe believes her biggest success was creating a new category in the beauty market. She created of liquid-to-matte lipstick. The lipstick that she created with the help of a chemist stays on, it is transfer proof and it does not crumble. It took her months before she could come up with a perfect idea.Another beauty product she created called the Velvetines are vegan.Doe is proud of having products that don’t contain animal-derived ingredients. Another huge accomplishment for Doe was her having an entire line to be seen as cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny. Leaping Bunny is seen as very popular for certifying in the health and beauty industry.
When asked what her biggest challenge was and how she addressed it, she discussed how she went through a security breach in 2014. Her website was hacked by evil hacking thieves. Even some of the customer information was stolen. Hackers steal information from popular websites all the time, so she didn’t see it as a personal failure on her part. But to this day ,she still feels responsible and guilty for what happened to her customers .It was hard for her to restore customer trust in her company. She and her team came up with a dedicated email account for handling incident inquiries, and a call center. Doe also hired extra customer care to talk to customers on social media. And on top of that, a team of internet experts worked with her to make her website stronger than Fort Knox .
The last question in the interview that was asked was : Who is your most important role model? Doe says the creator of Wildfox is. Kimberly Gordon has a comfortable clothing line, but it’s also vintage. Both Kimberly and Doe appeal to the same health and beauty fans in the beauty industry. Doe sees Kimberly as not only her mentor, but she also is honored to call her a friend.
