Rodrigo Terpins inherited a passion for business and competitive sports from his father, Jack Terpins. Their biggest passion is sports, but they have both pursued different sporting arenas. Jack has had a lifelong love of basketball, famously playing for Hebraica in the 60s and 70s. During those years the public knew him as Jackao. After college, he became a very successful real estate investor. Since 1991 he has also served as Hebraica’s Sports Director. He has also become a Jewish community leader in Brazil serving as president of the Latin American Jewish Council, president of the Macabi Latin American Confederation, and vice president of the Macabi World Union.
According to mundoraiam.com, Rodrigo’s biggest sport’s passion is in car racing. He and his younger brother Michel have been heavily involved with racing at the annual Sertoes Rally for many years. The Sertoes Rally is the largest off-road event in Brazil. It is also the most popular such event in the country. And Rodrigo has done so with great success. He and his brothers are the founding members of the Bull Sertoes Rally Team. 2012’s 20th edition of the race was particularly challenging not only for the brothers but all of the racers. And that was on purpose.
The race planners had planned it that well in celebration of it being the 20th anniversary of the rally. The course that year was 4,840 km long and passed through 11 cities. In 2014’s 22nd edition, Rodrigo and his driving partner finished in eighth place overall. Up to that year, the Terpins had driven all of their races together. The 2014 race was much shorter than usual, only passing through two Brazilian states. The ten-day rally includes several stages of racing, the first four of which count toward the driving team’s standing in the Brazilian Cross Country Rally Championship.
